A grandfather was saved by his pet Labradoodle after falling and being knocked unconscious.
The unusual dog, which is a relatively popular modern breed, stuck by the avid walker's side after he fell 40 feet into a ravine and when the walker regained consciousness the canine journeyed to a nearby pub and alerted drinkers of his master's condition.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Holder said: "I was literally standing still with my hands in my pockets listening to the silence and the sound of the river, when suddenly the earth moved.
"There was a tremendous rumble and the whole lot came down with no warning, nothing."
His Labradoodle, Monty, helped the retired sales director to safety after the fall.
He claimed that Monty is the perfect pet – despite not being the best behaved of animals.
The term Labradoodle was coined by British land speed record legend Donald Campbell.
