One Cats Draining Journey
Posted on September 6, 2010 | 0 Responses
A cat from Scotland had a very draining journey recently when a case of misadventure saw him lost in the Port Williams drain network.
Toots, a 7 year old tabby, is regular tear away and when he first went missing his owner, Louise Kerr, was no too alarmed as it doesn’t usually take her too long to find the mischievous kitty.
Louise normally finds Toots in Port Williams harbour stuck in the lobster creels, but when Louise went down to the port Toots was nowhere to be seen she started to get very worried.
Meanwhile a nearby resident was hearing strange noises through her conservatory floor, identifying the noises as a cat’s meow the lady came to the conclusion that a cat must be stuck in the drains.
The concerned lady called The Scottish SPCA and a rescue mission began.
The SPCA started digging up the garden, lifting manhole covers and the resident even let them lift up parts of their conservatory floor to expose parts of the drains.
Despite their efforts the frightened cat retreated further into the drain network and rescue workers started to scratch their heads over what to do next.
Luckily by this time Louise had contacted a local veterinary practice and had been informed that a lady had reported a cat trapped in her drain.
Arriving at the rescue sceen Louise’s familiar voice was all Toots needed to pop his head out of one of the manholes.
Louise was delighted to have been reunited with the adventurous pussy cat and took Toots home.
Speaking in the BBC, Louise said:
“He was very hungry when I got him home, but after a plateful of prawns and some milk he was quite happily lying outside sunbathing and none the worse for wear.”
