Meeting the Kids and Socialising
Make sure that children are aware the puppy is a pet and not a toy and make them aware from an early stage that your puppy will play bite and scratch; this is unintentional yet could scare the children if they are not prepared. Play should be encouraged and this will form a great bond between them; you could even take the children to puppy training classes so that they learn and understand the need to have control and understanding of the puppy.
Children need to have respect for the puppy so make sure that they do not grab and drag the puppy out of their sleeping place. Play should only take place when the puppy is active and coming to you, not the other way around. The puppy will not enjoy being woken and may have a negative reaction. This may upset the child and cause a negative atmosphere between the pet and the child.
