Hounds on Hols Photo Competition Winner

We asked the public to send in the best photo of their pooches enjoying a trip away for a chance to win a dog friendly holiday!

We’re coming to the end of the summer now, but fortunately it’s not all doom and gloom. As far as British summers go, we’ve enjoyed some pleasant weather and trips abroad are becoming easier and more accessible year-on-year. Nowadays, people don’t want to leave their family friends at home, so dog friendly holidays are becoming more and more popular.

At www.pet-insurance.co.uk, we received some fantastic entries for our Hounds on Hols competition. We had Schnauzers in the sea, a Border Collie on a boat and even Chihuahuas camping! It was a seemingly impossible task, we didn’t want to be barking up the wrong tree or chasing our tails, but we got our heads together and, after hours of deliberating, our judging panel selected one winner and two runners-up from the selection of great submissions.

So, making no bones about it, here is your winner in the Hounds on Hols photo competition…

WINNER – Rose Tabberer and Bubb

www.pet-insurance.co.uk Judging Panel comment: “We loved this photo. Not only does Bubb look like he’s having a whale of a time but the picture quality is crystal-clear and the colours are vibrant. It’s also very rare to have a photo taken from the sea facing towards the beach – it’s unique!”

We spoke to Rose about her win and she had this to say. “Bubb is an energetic Hungarian Vizsla. We are lucky enough to live in Cornwall and, during the summer, I try to swim with him at least two or three times a week, especially in the hot weather, as it’s a great way for both of us to keep fit.

Bubb is eight years old now and he really loves life. His nickname is Velcro as he just loves to be with us, usually leaning against us, if he gets the chance!”

Rose landed herself a £250 Haven voucher for a dog-friendly holiday, so that she can treat Bubb to more fun times away. Haven provide pet friendly holidays and accommodation for the entire family so nobody has to miss out on the trip of a lifetime.

RUNNERS-UP – Clare Adams & Bella and Chris Findon & Sergeant

www.pet-insurance.co.uk Judging Panel comments: “In terms of the brief, Bella and Clare meet every criteria! Bella is queen of her castle, we love her bucket and spade and the framing of the Ferris wheel in the background is great.”

“Sergeant the Schnauzer could not look more relaxed, chilling on the pebbles. The composition of the piece is well thought out, with the natural limestone arch at Durdle Door providing the balance on the left-hand side of the photo.”

Our winner and two runners-up came out as top dogs in our Hounds on Hols competition but we had a great time looking at all of the doggy holiday snaps.  Congratulations to all of our entrants for providing us with such a high quality contest!
